Utilities & Infrastructure

The Brown Rural Partnership has a wealth of experience working on behalf major utility companies to deliver projects around the North West of England. In particular it has been involved in water pipeline projects with budgets in excess of £100m for the purpose of laying new water pipelines and refurbishing existing mains.

We also represent a major gas company in North Wales and manage schemes on their behalf where access has been required for new pipes, diversion of existing pipes and the acquisition of sites.

When acting on behalf of major utility companies, The Brown Rural Partnership is involved from concept to completion of schemes with involvement including:

  • Landowner identification
  • Providing advice to mitigate costs e.g. route plotting
  • Preliminary surveys e.g. boreholes, archaeological, environmental
  • Accommodation works including drainage
  • Preparation of relevant statutory notices
  • Records of condition
  • Acquisition of temporary and permanent rights and land
  • Overseeing reinstatement and remedial works
  • Liaison with landowners throughout
  • Settlement of compensation claims
  • Dispute resolution

The Brown Rural Partnership also acts on behalf of land owners and occupiers who are directly affected by utility companies taking entry to their land. This could be for the construction of a new pipeline, the refurbishment of an existing pipeline or preparing a claim for losses arising out of a pipeline burst, overhead electricity pylons or telecom masts.
